Common questions
- Is this an ADHD diagnosis?
- No. This is a screener, not a diagnosis. Only a clinician can diagnose ADHD, after a full assessment. The screener asks six questions about how often you experience certain things and reports whether four or more of your responses fall in the instrument's shaded range.
- What does the result mean?
- Four or more responses in the shaded range means symptoms highly consistent with ADHD in adults, and further investigation is warranted. Fewer than four means the screener did not flag your symptoms, which neither rules ADHD in nor out.
- Which questions does it use?
- The six Part A questions of the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale version 1.1, reproduced verbatim with the five point frequency scale. The ADHD-ASRS Screener v1.1 is copyrighted by the World Health Organization.
- Do you store my answers?
- No. The questions are scored in your browser. No answers are sent anywhere, nothing is written to a database, and you are not asked for an email address before the result.
- What can I do after the result?
- If you have no diagnosis and want an NHS assessment in England, you can ask your GP for a referral to a provider of your choosing. If you are already diagnosed and shared care or medication is blocked, a formal letter to your GP practice is the usual next step. If you have applied for PIP and been refused, the next stage is mandatory reconsideration, and after that an appeal.
