Does PIP stop when you go into hospital or a care home?
You must tell the Department for Work and Pensions as soon as possible if you go into hospital for one night or longer, or if you move into a care home, because a stay can affect what is payable. GOV.UK warns that a claim might be stopped or reduced if a hospital stay is not reported, and it directs PIP claimants to the Disability Service Centre to report one. Reporting the stay is the step that protects the claim; leaving it unreported is what creates a problem later. A care home stay is reported through a separate GOV.UK route.
