Is PIP paid in arrears?
Yes. Personal Independence Payment is paid every four weeks in arrears, straight into a bank, building society or credit union account. The day of the week is fixed when the claim is decided and then stays the same for each four-week cycle, so payments land on that same weekday every four weeks rather than on a set calendar date. The first payment after a decision can cover a shorter part period, because it runs from the date entitlement started rather than from a full cycle.
The rule in one line
Paid every four weeks, in arrears.
What the source does not settle
GOV.UK sets this out in its general guide to how benefits are paid rather than on a page about PIP alone, and it does not publish a calendar of individual payment dates. Your own decision letter is the only place your payment day appears.
